We expect such value from the stuff we buy and we buy so much stuff. Imagine if in the end, there was an accounting, a receipt for every single purchase made over a lifetime. The bigger returns do come from some big ticket items like my education or my home but some smaller things are right up there, like the black bikini I bought when I was dating my husband-to-be, or Bentley Clint, my daughter’s cabbage patch doll that continues to have a place of honor after thirty years. The greatest investments are not necessarily the biggest.
